Controls can subscribe<\/em> to these events, and use them to trigger a change\u00a0on the page. You can use events to do things such as:<\/p>\n For example, you can use an event to populate a combo box, and then when the user selects an option from the combo box, this changes the title of the page.<\/p>\n You can also assign defaults to an event, which means that when you first load a page, controls can display default value.<\/p>\n Note: An Event can only refer to events on the same page. It cannot refer to events on another page.<\/p>\n In this topic, we'll show you how to populate a combo box with data sourced by the FINANCIAL column of a dataset. This is done by setting an event on the dataset.<\/p>\n We're then going to place a text label on the page which shows the value of the VALUE\u00a0column for the item you have selected from the combo box. And then we're going to assign a default value to the event so that the combo box is not empty when the page is loaded.<\/p>\n Now, let's look at how we're actually going to do this, step-by-step.<\/p>\n Before you start, open a new tab in Explorer and click the \u201cCreate a New Page in Studio Mode\u201d thumbnail. Choose the grid<\/a>\u00a0layout \u2013 you can adjust the rows and columns if you like but it\u2019s not important for this exercise.<\/p>\n You may need to adjust the configuration to suit your data that you have available at your site.<\/p>\n Step 1. Add a Combo Box to the page\u00a0and configure it<\/strong><\/p>\n Drag and drop the Combo Box<\/a> control onto a grid cell. Configure it as follows:<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Step 2.
