Click <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Units<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">3. Units have 2 important requirements: <strong>Symbol<\/strong> and <strong>Plain Symbol<\/strong>.\u00a0Note that these must be unique and cannot contain any reserved characters. If the symbol cannot be used, the plain symbol will be used instead. While the symbol may contain special Unicode characters, the plain symbol must not.<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/primers\/reserved-characters-keywords\/\">Reserved Characters &amp; Keywords<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">5. Supply a <strong>description<\/strong>. It's often useful to provide a broader explanation\u00a0of the unit\u00a0and how it will be used.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Items are ordered alphabetically (<em>in versions before 4.5.0, they appeared in the order in which they were added, with the last one added appearing at the bottom of the list<\/em>). \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unit.png\" rel=\"lightbox-1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-18706 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unit.png\" width=\"1164\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unit.png 1164w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unit-768x350.png 768w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unit-150x68.png 150w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unit-24x11.png 24w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unit-36x16.png 36w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unit-48x22.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1164px) 100vw, 1164px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">\u00a06. When you have finished, click the <strong>Save<\/strong> button in the top right corner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\"><span id=\"ImportExport_Spreadsheet\">Import\/Export Spreadsheet<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">If you want to create units as part of a bulk configuration, you can use the <strong>Unit<\/strong> tab in the <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/importexport\/tips-on-filling-in-the-import-spreadsheet\/\">Import\/Export spreadsheet<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">For details on the spreadsheet and how to obtain it, see <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/importexport\/exporting-your-config\/\">Exporting Your Configuration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The fields you need to fill in here are the same as the ones in IFS OI Server Management.<\/p>\n<p class=\"note\">Look for the red\u00a0comment <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6551\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/commentred.png\" alt=\"commentred\" width=\"5\" height=\"5\" \/>\u00a0icon in the row headers, to get help with each column.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">DO NOT fill in or change anything in the Global Id field - this is the unique identifier for the unit that allows it to be tracked across systems, and when it is renamed.
