Overview<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tags<\/a> and attributes values<\/a> can be added to trends<\/a> or viewed on pages, with or without calculations, to help you diagnose problems and visualise value changes over time.<\/p>\n

Data that has been organised into a hierarchy<\/a> in P2 Server can be located using Hierarchy Search or Navigation. A flat list of tags can be located using Tag Search.<\/p>\n

This article shows you how to navigate or search for entities from a selected hierarchy, and then select attributes, as well as how to search for tags. The article also describes what you can do with tags and attribute values.<\/p>\n

You can open the Hierarchy Panel or the Tags Panel from the Navigators<\/em> group on the Explorer ribbon, which is available on the View, Studio <\/em> and Trend<\/em> tabs.<\/p>\n

Hierarchy Panel<\/span><\/h2>\n

Click Hierarchy<\/strong> on the View<\/em>, Studio<\/em> or Trend<\/em> tab of the Explorer Ribbon to open the Hierarchy panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n 1. Hierarchy button<\/strong>:
\n Click Hierarchy<\/strong> on the View<\/em> tab of the Explorer Ribbon to open the Hierarchy panel.\n <\/p>\n

\n 2. Hierarchy selector<\/strong>:
\n To change the default hierarchy, select a different one from the drop-down list.\n <\/p>\n

\n 3. Hierarchy Search box<\/strong>:
\n Type three or more letters of the entity name you are searching for, then click to select an entity in the drop-down list that appears.\n <\/p>\n

\n 4. Hierarchy<\/strong>:
\n Navigate through the hierarchy by expanding nodes. Each node is an entity<\/a>. Note that from version 4.4.4, icons are retrieved from P2 Server. If no icon has been configured for the entity, no icon will appear.\n <\/p>\n

\n 5. Close<\/strong>:
\n Click the X<\/strong> to close the panel. Alternatively, click Hierarchy<\/strong> a second time, or click Tags<\/strong>.\n <\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Attribute Panel and Table of Contents<\/h3>\n

In the Hierarchy Panel, click an entity to open its Attributes Panel and Table of Contents ribbon tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n 1. Selected entity<\/strong>:
\n In the Hierarchy Panel, click an entity to open its Attributes Panel and Table of Contents ribbon tab.\n <\/p>\n

\n 2. Table of Contents<\/strong>:
\n The entity's Table of Contents opens in a new tab on the Explorer ribbon. If there are links<\/a> for the entity's primary template, these appear on the ribbon. The default link on the template appears as the first link, and is larger than the others. Links can open Explorer pages, trends or external URIs.\n <\/p>\n

The Attribute Panel [3-6]<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\n 3. Attributes and Templates Count<\/strong>:
\n The number of attributes and templates for the selected entity.\n <\/p>\n

\n 4. Template<\/strong>:
\n Expand or collapse the template<\/a> using the down or up arrow.\n <\/p>\n

\n 5. Attribute Group, Attributes, and Attribute Values<\/strong>:
\n The Attribute Group consists of logically related attributes<\/a> (Operating Data<\/em>, in the screenshot). Each attribute (Choke, THP<\/em> and THT<\/em> in the example) has attribute values listed below, for example Current Position, Differential Pressure<\/em>. From version 4.4.4, attributes and attribute values that are assigned to a dataset have a dataset \"Dataset icon; for all other attributes, a tag \"tag-icon\" icon appears alongside the attribute and attribute value.\n <\/p>\n

Click Tags<\/strong> on the View<\/em>, Studio<\/em> or Trend<\/em> tab of the Explorer Ribbon to open the Tags Panel.<\/p>\n

\n 1. Tag button<\/strong>:
\n Click Tags<\/strong> on the View<\/em> tab of the Explorer Ribbon to open the Tags panel.\n <\/p>\n

\n 2. Search Tags box<\/strong>:
\n Type all or part of the tag name in the search box. The filtered results make it easier to find a tag.\n <\/p>\n

\n 3. Filter by Datasource<\/strong>:
\n Select a datasource from the drop-down list, to filter the tag list. (Not all datasources contain tags.)\n <\/p>\n

\n 4. Tag list<\/strong>:
\n A filtered list of alphabetically sorted tags, display the tag name and description. Scroll down the list to find your tag.\n <\/p>\n

\n 5. Details icon<\/strong>:
\n Clickable icon that opens the Tag Details page.\n <\/p>\n

\n 6. Close<\/strong>:
