These are then available to users in consuming applications, such as IFS OI Explorer. This article describes how to create a calculation in both IFS OI Server Management and the Import\/Export spreadsheet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Server Management<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">In IFS OI Server Management, creating a calculation is performed through the Configuration <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6523 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/configurationicon.png\" alt=\"configurationicon\" width=\"30\" height=\"29\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/configurationicon.png 30w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/configurationicon-24x24.png 24w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 30px) 100vw, 30px\" \/>\u00a0menu option.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">1. Open IFS OI Server Management, and click the <strong>Configuration<\/strong>\u00a0icon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">2. Click <strong>Calculations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">3. Fill in the fields as required:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li><strong>Name<\/strong>:\u00a0Note that the name cannot contain <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/primers\/reserved-characters-keywords\/\">reserved characters<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Description<\/strong>: \u00a0For the description, it's often useful to provide a broader explanation\u00a0of what the calculation tag represents.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Type<\/strong>: \u00a0The type of calculation you are creating: tag or dataset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/primers\/data-types\/\">Data Formats and Data Types<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">If your calculation type is a <strong><em>tag<\/em><\/strong>, you should also complete the following details:<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"padding-left: 5px;\"><strong>Display Range<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>Allows consuming applications (e.g. IFS OI Explorer Trend) to tell what the expected minimum\/maximum value is for a tag. If supported, this information may be imported by the adaptor.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"padding-left: 5px;\"><strong>Default Timebase<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>The time range that will be used by default when the tag is displayed in consuming applications, such as being added to a IFS OI Explorer trend. The default is 12 hours.\u00a0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"padding-left: 5px;\"><strong>Interpolation<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>The type of interpolation to assume for the data returned by this calculation tag. This affects how the data is displayed on a trend in IFS OI Explorer, and the default trace style. The default is Continuous.<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-26984 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/continuous.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"25\" height=\"18\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/continuous.png 25w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/continuous-24x17.png 24w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 25px) 100vw, 25px\" \/>\u00a0<strong>Continuous<\/strong>:<\/em>\u00a0Allows a line to be drawn to connect data points on the trend. This is the most common method of extrapolation, and is often used when historians allow values accumulated over a sample period to be written to the beginning of the sample period.<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-26983 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/backward.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"26\" height=\"15\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/backward.png 26w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/backward-24x14.png 24w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 26px) 100vw, 26px\" \/>\u00a0<strong>Backward Extrapolated<\/strong><\/em>:\u00a0The tag value is extrapolated backwards over the sample interval, until the previous data point is reached. This is used when historians do not allow writing of values to the beginning of a sample period. When\u00a0values are accumulated over a sample period, they are written to the end of the sample period.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"padding-left: 5px;\"><strong>Decimal Places<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>The number of decimal places to display for the tag. An example of this being used is when the tag is displayed in the Status Tile of IFS OI Explorer. The default is 2.\u00a0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"padding-left: 5px;\"><strong>Scan Rate<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>The frequency with which the tag is updated with live values in the data source. Consuming applications can use this to limit the range of a raw fetch on data which has a high scan rate.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"padding-left: 5px;\"><strong>Unit<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>\n<p>The unit of measure for this tag. Click the <strong>Save<\/strong> button in the top right corner.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Import\/Export Spreadsheet<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The Import\/Export spreadsheet is generally only used to make bulk changes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">For details on the spreadsheet and how to obtain it, see <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/importexport\/exporting-your-config\/\">Exporting Your Configuration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">If you want to create or edit calculations as part of a bulk configuration, you can use the <strong>Calculation\u00a0Tag<\/strong>\u00a0tab in the <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/importexport\/tips-on-filling-in-the-import-spreadsheet\/\">Import\/Export spreadsheet<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Note that this only applies to calculations of the 'Tag' type. The fields you need to fill in here are the same as the ones in IFS OI Server Management for calculation tags.<\/p>\n<p class=\"note\">Look for the red\u00a0comment <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6551\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/commentred.png\" alt=\"commentred\" width=\"5\" height=\"5\" \/>\u00a0icon in the row headers, to get help with each column.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">DO NOT change anything in the Global Id field - this is the unique identifier for the attribute group\u00a0that allows it to be tracked across systems, and when it is renamed.
