For the latest, see <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-resources\/faq-configuring-charts\/\">FAQ - Configuring Charts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">How do I update a variable from a chart?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">It is possible to configure a chart such that when a user clicks on an area of the chart, this updates a variable on the page with the selected X Axis value (the variable is then used by other page components, such as a text label, or a parameter to a dataset query, or a variable for a hyperlink).<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To configure the chart to update a variable, follow the steps below.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Step 1: Add a text variable to the page defaults, and give it a value. <em>See<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-studio\/default-value\/\">Default Values<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Step 2: Click the chart to configure it. You need to assign a <strong>Name<\/strong> to each of the chart's series, and then select the chart's <strong>Legend<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Step 1: First click on the chart to configure it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Step 2: Click a series to open it (for example, click <strong>Bar Series<\/strong>). Type a name in the <strong>Name<\/strong> edit box (or select a <strong>Variable<\/strong> from the variable drop-down list). For example, change a bar series to a line series.
