For more, see <a href=\"#Release_History\">Release History<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Overview<\/h2>\n<p class=\"overview\">The Default Values panel sets the context of a page when it is opened in Display Mode, by supplying the <em>initial<\/em> values to the page's variables. It also sets the start and end times that are used on your page by various components.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">For example, a Combo Box should have a default value assigned to its <em>Selected Option<\/em> variable, otherwise there is no selection when the page opens, and the user has to select something before any data is shown.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 700px; others need to be added, as required.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Default values can also be used for dataset parameter variables when a dataset is chosen for a component's data. This ensures that the component displays a useful value as soon as a page is opened. For example, on page open, a dataset query runs where 'Oil' is the default value for the <em>selectedProduct<\/em> variable, which is used as a parameter for the dataset query.<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-primers\/variables\/\">Variables<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Default Values Panel<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The Default Values panel is where you configure the default values for page variables. If you open a trend through a URL or using one of the links from a page (using hyperlink, hotspot, status tiles, or charts), you can override the default values.<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Related: See the\u00a0<a title=\"Variable Parameters\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/link-to-a-trend-via-a-url\/#Variable_Parameters\">Variable Parameters<\/a> section of <a title=\"Link to Trend via a URL\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/link-to-a-trend-via-a-url\"> Link to Trend via a URL<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Overriding Default Values<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">If you open a page or trend from another Explorer page using <a title=\"Hyperlinks\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-studio\/controls\/hyperlink\/\"> hyperlinks<\/a>, <a title=\"Hotspots\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-studio\/controls\/hotspot\/\">hotspots<\/a>, <a title=\"Status Tiles\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-studio\/controls\/status-tile\/\"> status tiles<\/a>, or <a title=\"Charts\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-studio\/controls\/charts\/\">charts<\/a>\u00a0with an x-axis Link Action, you can pass values from the calling page, using <em>Variable Mapping<\/em>. If a standard page variable default is mapped in this way, its value is overridden.\u00a0For example, if you have page with a default selected entity of <i>Archer<\/i>, you can open the same page via a hyperlink or URL, assigning that page's selected entity, <em>Ibis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">In a similar way, if you open a page via a URL, you can override the page's default values by setting your own variables in the URL.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Variables are also updated and default values are overridden when\u00a0users begin to interact with controls on a page or trend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-studio\/link-action-and-variable-mapping\/\">Link Action and Variable Mapping<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-integration\/link-to-a-frameless-explorer-page\/\">Linking to a Page via URL<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Defaults with Relative Values<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Some default variables, such as <strong>startTime<\/strong> and <strong>endTime<\/strong>, have values that vary relative to the time when you open the page, for example an <em>endTime<\/em> of 'yesterday', or a <em>startTime<\/em> that is always five days before the <em>endTime<\/em>. These settings, and others, are described in <a href=\"#startTime_and_endTime\">startTime and endTime<\/a>\u00a0below.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Standard Page Variables<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">When you add a new page, several page variables (with a Variable Name, Default Value, and sometimes Type) are inserted in the <strong>Default Values<\/strong> panel. You can also use this variable for a dataset query parameter of type <em>Datetime<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Similarly, <em>startTime<\/em> is applied to the Start Time (where there is a time range) of any time series data added to the page, or for dataset query parameters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The date\/time components are preconfigured to use <em>startTime <\/em>and <em>endTime <\/em>(where applicable).<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><strong>Example<\/strong>: The Date Time Range Picker uses <em>startTime<\/em> and <em>endTime<\/em> from the page default values.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"border-top: 1px solid #cccccc;
