Overview<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tags<\/a> and attributes values<\/a> can be added to trends<\/a> or viewed on pages, with or without calculations, to help you diagnose problems and visualise value changes over time.<\/p>\n

Data (entities, and their attributes) that has been organised into a hierarchy<\/a> in IFS OI Server can be located using the Hierarchy Navigator. A flat list of tags can be located using the Tag Navigator.<\/p>\n

A hierarchy in IFS OI Explorer<\/p><\/div>\n

This article describes how to search for tags using the Tags Navigator, and how to search for entities (and their attributes) from a selected hierarchy using the Hierarchy Navigator. The article also describes how you can use tags and attribute values on your pages and trends.<\/p>\n

You can open the Hierarchy Navigator or the Tags Navigator from the Navigators<\/em> group which is available on the Home, Page, Studio, Trend<\/em> and Details<\/em> Explorer Ribbon<\/a> tabs.<\/p>\n

Hierarchy Navigator<\/span><\/h2>\n

Click Hierarchy<\/strong> on one of the Explorer Ribbon tabs to open the Hierarchy Navigator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Hierarchy button<\/strong>:
\nClick Hierarchy<\/strong> on the one of the ribbon tabs to open the Hierarchy Navigator.<\/p>\n

2. Hierarchy selector<\/strong>:
\nYou can choose a different hierarchy from the drop-down list.<\/p>\n

3. Hierarchy Search box<\/strong>:
\nType three or more letters of the entity name you are searching for, then click to select an entity in the drop-down list that appears. Or use wildcard filtering<\/a> for your search, using a combination of characters and the wildcard symbols ?<\/strong> and *<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4. Entities<\/strong>:
\nNavigate through the hierarchy by expanding nodes. Each node is an entity<\/a>. If an icon has been configured for the entity's current primary template<\/a>, this appears alongside the entity name. The entities are sorted according to the order specified in IFS OI Server Management.<\/p>\n

5. Attributes Panel<\/strong>:
\nClick Show Attributes<\/strong> to open the Attributes Panel.<\/p>\n

6. Close<\/strong>:
\nTo close the Hierarchy Navigator, click the Hierarchy toggle button on the ribbon [1]<\/strong>, or click X<\/strong> on the top right of the navigator. Clicking the Tags<\/strong> button also closes the Hierarchy Navigator.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Attribute Panel and Table of Contents<\/h3>\n

In the Hierarchy Navigator, click an entity to select it, then click Show Attributes<\/strong> to open the Attributes Panel and Table of Contents ribbon tab for the selected entity. (The button text changes to Hide Attributes<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Selected entity<\/strong>:
\nIn the Hierarchy Navigator, click an entity to open its Attributes Panel and Table of Contents ribbon tab.<\/p>\n

2. Table of Contents<\/strong>:
\nThe entity's Table of Contents opens in a new tab on the Explorer ribbon. If there are links<\/a> for the any of the entity's templates, these appear on the ribbon. The default link on the template appears as the first link, and is larger than the others. Links can open Explorer pages, trends or external URIs.<\/p>\n

3. Show Attributes<\/strong>:
\nClick Show Attributes<\/strong> to open the Attributes Panel, and Hide Attributes<\/strong> to close the Attributes Panel.<\/p>\n

The Attribute Panel [4-7]<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

4. Attributes and Templates Count<\/strong>:
\nThe number of attributes and templates for the selected entity.<\/p>\n

5. Template<\/strong>:
\nThe active primary template appears in bold font, at the top of the list (if any of the templates are set as internal in IFS OI Server,they do not appear in the attributes panel). Expand or collapse the template<\/a> panel, using the down or up arrow.<\/p>\n

6. Attribute Group, Attributes, and Attribute Values<\/strong>:
\nThe Attribute Group consists of logically related attributes<\/a> (Operating Data<\/em>, in the screenshot). Each attribute (Choke, THP<\/em> and THT<\/em> in the example) has attribute values listed below, for example Current Position, Differential Pressure<\/em>. Attributes and attribute values that are assigned to a dataset have a dataset \"Dataset icon; for all other attributes, a tag \"tag-icon\" icon appears alongside the attribute and attribute value.<\/p>\n

7. Close<\/strong>:

1. Tag button<\/strong>:
\nClick Tags<\/strong> on the Page <\/em>ribbon tab to open the Tags Navigator.<\/p>\n

2. Search Tags box<\/strong>:
\nType all or part of the tag name or description in the search box, or use wildcard filtering<\/a> for your search, using a combination of characters and the wildcard symbols ?<\/strong> and *<\/strong> to search for the tag name or description. The filtered results make it easier to find a tag.<\/p>\n

3. Filter by Datasource<\/strong>:
\nSelect a datasource from the drop-down list, to filter the tag list. (Not all datasources contain tags.)<\/p>\n

4. Tag list<\/strong>:
\nA list of alphabetically sorted tag names and descriptions, whose name or description matches the search text, or the wildcard filter text. Scroll down the list to find your tag.<\/p>\n

5. Details icon<\/strong>:
\nClickable icon that opens the Tag Details page. The Ctrl+Click<\/strong> keyboard shortcut also opens a tag's Point Details page.<\/p>\n

6. Close<\/strong>:
\nClick the X to close the panel, or click the Tags<\/strong> toggle button.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Functionality<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are several functions you can perform from the Tag and Hierarchy Navigators, and also the Attribute Panel.<\/p>\n
