This article applies to versions 4.5.1-4.5.3 of P2 Server. For the latest, see Adding Images<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Icons and other images are a useful tool to help people identify and visualise information. P2 Server stores icons used in hierarchies and images for P2 Explorer.<\/p>\n

All images in P2 Server must be added to an Image Group. Two default image groups are available: Server Icons and Explorer Images.<\/p>\n

You can add an image using P2 Server Management or the Import\/Export spreadsheet.<\/p>\n

Server Management<\/h2>\n

In P2 Server Management, adding an image is performed through the\u00a0Configuration \"configurationicon\"\u00a0menu option.<\/p>\n

1. Open P2 Server Management, and click the Configuration<\/strong> \u00a0icon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2. Click the\u00a0Images\u00a0\"image-icon1\"<\/b>\u00a0icon.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Select a group from the\u00a0Image Group<\/strong>\u00a0drop-down list.<\/p>\n

4. Add your images using either drag and drop, or click the drag and drop box to browse from your computer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Note: You can add multiple images at a time if you wish.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Note: The default maximum file size is 5MB. This can be changed in the configuration file.\u00a0<\/p>\n

4. After your images have been uploaded, they will be displayed below the drag and drop box. You should now check that you images have suitable names and descriptions, and make any necessary changes.<\/p>\n

Items are ordered by\u00a0the order in which they were added, so the last one added will appear at the bottom of the list. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a06. When you have finished, click the Save<\/strong> button in the top right corner.<\/p>\n

P2 Server will automatically create thumbnails for images in the Server Icons group for use on the Hierarchy and Entity pages.<\/p>\n

Making Icons Appear in Hierarchies<\/h3>\n

Images in the Server icons group are designed for use as icons in a Hierarchy. P2 Server will automatically do this for you when you assign the image to a primary template<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

1. In\u00a0P2 Server Management, click the Configuration<\/strong> \"configurationicon\"\u00a0icon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2. Click the\u00a0Templates\u00a0\"template-icon\"<\/b>\u00a0icon.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Select a template from the list and edit it. In the Icon<\/strong> field, select the icon you want from the drop-down list, and click Save<\/strong> when you have finished.<\/p>\n

Now, whenever you see an entity with this template applied as the primary template<\/strong>, you will see this icon in the Hierarchy and Entity Overview pages in Server Management, as well as in the Hierarchy Navigator in P2 Explorer.<\/p>\n

Import\/Export Spreadsheet<\/h2>\n

The Import\/Export spreadsheet is generally only used to make bulk changes.<\/p>\n
