This article applies to the Explorer Ribbon in versions 4.6 and later of IFS OI Explorer. For help on earlier versions, see Release History<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The IFS OI Explorer Ribbon is the main way to access the functionality of IFS OI Explorer.<\/p>\n

The ribbon contains two main tabs (Home and Admin), along with 6 other context-sensitive tabs appearing as needed (Studio, Trend, Page, Details, Trend Preview, and Page Preview).<\/p>\n

Additional custom-built tabs may appear if they have been configured for an organisation. There is also a Table of Contents tab, that appears when an entity is clicked in the hierarchy navigator; this tab is named for the selected entity.<\/p>\n

The ribbon has the following structure:<\/p>\n

1. Ribbon buttons<\/strong><\/td>\nThe buttons on the ribbon provide access to IFS OI Explorer functionality. If a function is unavailable, its button is greyed out.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
2. Active tab<\/strong><\/td>\nThe highlighted tab is the one that is currently selected.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
3. Ribbon tabs<\/strong><\/td>\nFunctionality is grouped into different tabs on the ribbon. See the following sections for detailed information on each tab.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
4. Button groups<\/strong><\/td>\nButtons are arranged in functional groups.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
5. Collapse button<\/strong><\/td>\nClicking the small arrow collapses the ribbon so that only the display tabs are visible.

Home Tab<\/h2>\n

The Home tab provides access to the high-level functions in IFS OI Explorer.<\/p>\n

<\/td>\nSearch<\/strong><\/td>\nOpen a Search Page<\/a> in a new display tab, where you can search for pages, trends, and tags.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nEnvironment<\/strong><\/td>\nOpen the My Environment<\/a> page, where you can see all your private pages and trends, as well as pages and trends pending approval, and snapshots.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The Trend ribbon tab is activated when the currently selected tab in the display area is a \"\" Trend<\/a>. Use the buttons on this tab to manipulate the trend.<\/p>\n

<\/td>\nReload<\/strong><\/td>\nReload the trend to what is was since the last Save (or to a blank trend, if you\u2019ve just started a new trend). E.g. If you add two new tags to the trend and then click \u2018Reload\u2019, these disappear.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

This is the data that is then exported. So if, for example, the Adaptive Raw sample method is selected, the trend will only export the rendered data, not all of the raw data.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

This opens the trend in Preview<\/em> mode, so that the approver can view it before approving or rejecting it.<\/p>\n

The Page Preview ribbon tab is activated when an approver clicks the Preview<\/strong> \"preview-icon\" button for a page that's pending approval, from their My Environment<\/a> page.<\/p>\n

This opens the page in Preview<\/em> mode, so that the approver can view it before approving or rejecting it.<\/p>\n

If any of the entity's templates has links<\/a> assigned, then these appear in its table of contents tab.<\/p>\n
