{"id":37815,"date":"2018-04-20T12:07:16","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T04:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/help\/?page_id=37815"},"modified":"2024-07-05T10:06:32","modified_gmt":"2024-07-05T02:06:32","slug":"create-a-role-with-privileges","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/security\/create-a-role-with-privileges\/","title":{"rendered":"Create a Role with Privileges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"left-bar\">This article applies to versions 4.6 and later of IFS OI Explorer.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Overview<\/h2>\n<p class=\"overview\">When IFS OI Explorer is first installed, there are two default roles: <em>Administrators<\/em> and <em>Everyone<\/em>. You may wish to create additional roles to suit your organisational goals.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>All users are assigned to the <em>Everyone<\/em> role, which by default has read access to all of Server and Explorer workspaces.<\/li>\n<li>By default, only the default admin user is assigned to the <em>Administrators<\/em> role, which provides administration privileges over all modules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">When you create a role, you can assign module-level privileges and resource-level privileges to users with the role. This role overrides any object-level privileges, so users with this role will be able to see all objects of the specified resource, regardless of object-level privileges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">In order to be able to create a role, a user must be a Security administrator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/security\/how-roles-work\/\">How Roles Work<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/security\/add-an-administrator\/\">Add an Administrator<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/security\/how-object-access-works\/\">How Object Access Works<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">This article explains how to create a new role with resource-level privileges.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Creating a Role<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">1. In the <strong>Privileges<\/strong> matrix, select the privileges you want to assign to this role. E.g.
