This article applies to versions 4.6 and later of IFS OI Explorer.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/h2>\n

In the Commentary module, comments can only be secured at the resource level and above. Individual comments cannot be secured.<\/p>\n

Changing privileges for comments is done in Server Management by changing role privileges<\/strong>, and requires Security administrator privileges.<\/p>\n

What the Privileges Mean<\/h3>\n

This is a list of the privileges for the Comments resource, and what they mean.\u00a0By default, everyone can create comments and edit their own comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
Privilege<\/strong><\/td>\nWhat it means<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Edit\u00a0<\/td>\nModify all comments entered into the system, regardless of who wrote them.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Delete\u00a0<\/td>\nDelete all comments entered into the system, regardless of who wrote them.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Tutorial: Edit\/Delete on Comments<\/h2>\n

In this tutorial, we show you how to allow users to edit and delete comments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

1. Open IFS OI Server Management, and click the Security\u00a0\"\"<\/b>\u00a0icon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2. Click\u00a0Role Privileges\u00a0\"\"<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

3. Click the role in the list that you want to modify.<\/p>\n

The page updates with the privileges matrix for modules and resources.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You can assign Admin privileges for the Commentary module<\/strong>, or you can assign edit\/delete privileges for the Comments resource<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4. In the\u00a0Privileges<\/strong>\u00a0matrix, change the privileges you want to assign to this role.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What the Colours Mean:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The privileges matrix is colour-coded to indicate the cascading nature of privileges. The colours are:<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0Grey: Privilege not granted
\n\"\"\u00a0Green tick: Privilege is explicitly granted, associated privileges will also be automatically granted.
\n\"\"\u00a0Green dot: Privilege is granted because a higher level privilege has been granted on the resource.
\n\"\"\u00a0Blue: Privilege is granted because it is inherited by a module privilege.<\/p>\n

5. When you have finished, click\u00a0Save<\/strong>\u00a0in the top right corner.<\/p>\n

The privileges for this role has now changed. The user will receive updated privileges in a hour, or they can log out and back in to receive them immediately.<\/p>\n
