For help on earlier versions, see <a href=\"#Release_History\">Release History<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The hairline allows you to see the data values on a <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/using-the-page-controls\/charts\/\">chart<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-studio\/controls\/embedded-trend\/\">embedded trend<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/creating-a-trend\/\">trend<\/a>, at a particular point in time.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Hairline Features<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The hairline can show:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>The timestamp of the data point<\/li>\n<li>The current value of the trace or series<\/li>\n<li>The name of the trace or series<\/li>\n<li>The difference between hairline values (for two or more hairlines)<\/li>\n<li>Comments button<\/li>\n<li>Time Windows button (only available on a trend hairline)<\/li>\n<li>Case button (only displayed when the trace is of an entity)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"note\">Note that hairlines can be configured to hide some of these items (see <a href=\"#Hairline_Display_Options\">Hairline Display Options<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><em>A hairline:<\/em><\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; If the Hairline Mode is Single, Hairline Start and Hairline End will have the same value.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hairline End:<\/strong> The time of the line at the right-most hairline.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hairline Update Mode:<\/strong> Set the hairline to be updated either as the user is actively dragging the hairline (Update On Drag), or after the user has finished dragging (Update On Mouseup). 'Update on Mouseup' is useful when a large amount of data is being returned.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Display Options:<\/strong> Use checkboxes to show or hide\u00a0Timestamp,\u00a0Value,\u00a0Name, and\u00a0Comments\u00a0on the hairline pill.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"note\">Note: When a trend or embedded trend, has Dual hairlines selected, and there are two hairlines on the trend, then Dual Hairline Statistics options (e.g. 'Max', 'Min', 'Standard Deviation') are available in the trend's <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/trace-table\/\">Trace Table<\/a>, allowing you to make further comparisons between data at the points marked by the two hairlines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><strong>Hairline Behavior<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>For dot series, interpolation for values in hairlines is <em>Last Known Value<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>If a series\/trace contains no value (or a null value), the pill will not appear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Interacting with a Hairline<\/h2>\n<h3>Add a hairline<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li class=\"intro-text\">\u00a0Click on a hairline-enabled chart or trend. The hairline is added where you click. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\n<div style=\"height: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/create-hairline.png\" rel=\"lightbox-5\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-70361 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/create-hairline.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"254\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/create-hairline.png 339w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/create-hairline-136x150.png 136w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/create-hairline-43x48.png 43w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 254px) 100vw, 254px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 id=\"Add More than One Hairline\">Add More than One Hairline<\/h4>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To add more than one hairline, configure the\u00a0Hairline Mode\u00a0to either\u00a0Dual\u00a0or\u00a0Multiple in the chart or trend.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li><strong>Dual Mode:<\/strong> allows two hairlines to be placed on the chart.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Multiple Mode:<\/strong> enables placing more than two hairlines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To add multiple hairlines, click on the chart or trend to place each hairline. Each click adds a new hairline (up to the configured limit).<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Each hairline displays its own pill with the selected information (e.g., timestamp, value, name), and the pill color matches the trace or series color.<\/p>\n<p class=\"note\"><strong>Value Difference<\/strong> is displayed when there are two or more hairlines. The value difference applies to a hairline's values, and those of the hairline immediately to its left.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Trend-value-diff-2025-06-23-115621.png\" rel=\"lightbox-6\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone hairline<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>To move a hairline left or right, click the hairline and drag it to the left or right.<\/li>\n<li>When you move hairlines so that they approach each The box will keep its position until that hairline is removed and added back.
