This article applies to versions 4.6.1 and later of P2 Explorer.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/h2>\n

When a case is assigned to you, a Case Notification is added to your list of notifications. In later releases of Explorer, other types of notification will also be available.<\/p>\n

The Notifications panel can be opened in the Info Zone, on the right of the screen, by clicking the bell \"\" icon in the Info Zone header. This is situated just left of the user name, and indicates the number of unread messages, if any, for the current user (3 in the example below).<\/p>\n

Features<\/h2>\n

The Notifications<\/strong> panel has the following features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
1. <\/strong><\/td>\nNotifications button<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nThis also shows the number of unread notifications. When there are new notifications, the number's background is highlighted for a second (larger, and red).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nClick the button to open\/close the Notifications Panel.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
2. <\/strong><\/td>\nNotifications header<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nThe header is 'Notifications', with a sub-header showing the number of unread notifications.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nClick the pin \"\" to keep the panel open, otherwise it will close if you click elsewhere in Explorer (for example on a display, or on the ribbon). Click again \"\" to unpin.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nClick the filter \"\" button to filter for unread messages. Click again \"\" to remove the filter.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nClick the close \"\" button to close the Notifications panel.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nClick the help button \"\" to open contextual help.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
3. <\/strong><\/td>\nNotification item<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nNotification items are listed in the panel, below the notifications header.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nCase notification items show the case number in the notification title, and below that the case priority, case category, and case description. If the description is very long an ellipsis (...<\/strong>) is shown on the bottom right of the item. Hover over the case priority, category or description, to show these in a tooltip.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nOn the top right is the notification time or, for recently assigned cases, the elapsed time since the notification was raised.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nUnread<\/strong> notifications have the notification title and time in bold<\/strong>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nClick the notification to open the related item in the Explore<\/strong> panel (see Opening a Notification<\/a>). This also marks the notifcation as read<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nTo dismiss the notification, click the X<\/strong>. This completely removes the notification.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
4. <\/strong><\/td>\nScrollbar<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nIf there are several notifications, there is a scrollbar on the right.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Opening the Notifications Panel<\/h3>\n

Click the Notifications icon to open the Notifications<\/strong> panel.<\/p>\n

Filtering Unread Notifications<\/h3>\n

Click the filter \"\" button to filter for unread messages.<\/p>\n

Click again \"\" to remove the filter.<\/p>\n

Opening a Notification<\/h3>\n

When you click on a notification item in the list, it marks the notification as read<\/em>, and also opens the notification's subject (for example, a case) in the Explore<\/strong> panel.<\/p>\n

Below is an example of a case that has been opened in the Explore panel.<\/p>\n

Dismissing a Notification<\/h3>\n

To dismiss the notification, click the X<\/strong> on the top right of the item in the list.<\/p>\n

Raising a Notification<\/h2>\n
