The limit of 8 hours can be updated in Explorer's web.config file (<em>MaximumRawDuration<\/em>). You can choose a different duration from the available options, which also vary depending on the Sample Method.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The available Sample Intervals change depending on the trend's selected time range, or the selected <strong>Duration<\/strong>. The longer the trend's time range, the larger the available sample intervals are. This prevents too much data being requested (for example, you cannot request one year of data at a <em>20 seconds<\/em> sample interval).<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Related: <a title=\"Data Transformation and Sample Methods\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/primers\/transforms\/\">Data Transformation and Sample Methods<\/a> (see how the data is fetched for the trend).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">The Trend Control Selections<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">As well as being able to change the selections using the controls, you can also change the selection by using the range selector, or the zoom function.<\/p>\n<h3>Changing the Trend Control Selections<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The selections you make on the Trend Controls affect the time range of the trend, as well as the data collection method (Sample Method) and interval (Sample Interval).<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><strong>With 'Now' Selected<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">For a new trend, <strong>Now<\/strong> is pre-selected. The range selector has a highlighted section that matches the time range set by the date pickers, with double that time period shown before the selection if <strong>Now <\/strong>is selected (for example, for a new trend).<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><strong>Resizing the highlighted section<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">1. The Sample Interval cannot be selected for this method; it is called \u2018Auto\u2019, and is determined automatically to deliver the optimal number of data points. Server fetches the raw data points from the Historian, then uses an algorithm within its calculation engine to reduce the number of points, before sending these on to Explorer for the trend.
