Overview<\/span><\/h2>\n

This article explains how to create a templated trend, with a link which appears on an entity's Table of Contents tab on the Explorer ribbon.<\/p>\n

When you click on a link for a templated trend, the trace lines that use templated attributes use the entity that's currently selected in the hierarchy navigator.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> Some of the steps are done in Server's management tool, P2 Server Management.<\/p>\n

Tutorial<\/span><\/h2>\n

This tutorial uses an example to describe how to create a templated trend. A link to the trend is added to one of entity Beardy's templates (Oil Producing Well), so that it appears on the ribbon's Table of Contents for Beardy, and for all other entities using the Oil Producing Well template.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: This configuration uses the Sample Data table that can be optionally made available during initial installation and setup. If you don't have access to this data, you will need to adjust the configuration to suit your data at your site.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Create the Templated Trend in Explorer<\/h3>\n

Tip:<\/strong> Before you start, identify which template this trend will be associated with. In our example, we are using the Oil Producing Well<\/strong> template.<\/p>\n

1. Add a new Trend<\/a> by clicking New Trend<\/strong> on the Home ribbon tab.<\/p>\n

2. Open the Hierarchy Navigator<\/a> and select the P2 Corporate<\/strong> hierarchy.<\/p>\n

3. Select entity Beardy<\/strong> in the hierarchy navigator.<\/p>\n

4. Click Show Attributes<\/strong> to open the Attributes Panel<\/strong>. (This button changes to Hide Attributes<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

5. In the Attributes panel, under the Oil Producing Well<\/strong> template, locate the Choke!Inlet Pressure<\/strong> attribute value. Drag and drop this attribute value onto the trend.<\/p>\n

6. Now locate the Choke!Max Position<\/strong> attribute value. Drag and drop this attribute value onto the trend.<\/p>\n

This adds {Beardy[Oil Producing Well]:Choke!Inlet Pressure}<\/em> and {Beardy[Oil Producing Well]:Choke!Max Position} <\/em> attribute values into the Trace Table, displayed respectively as \"\" Beardy -><\/strong> Choke -><\/strong> Inlet Pressure <\/strong> and \"\" Beardy -><\/strong> Choke -><\/strong> Max Position<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

7. In the trend's Trace Table, click the calculation icon, then use the Calculation Editor<\/a> to replace the entity name with the entity<\/em> keyword.<\/p>\n

8. Now use the Calculation Editor<\/a> to replace the entity name with the entity<\/em> keyword, for the second trace item.<\/p>\n

9. Save the trend<\/a> as Templated Choke<\/strong> in the Templated<\/strong> workspace.<\/p>\n

10. Click Share Link <\/strong>on the Trend<\/strong> ribbon.<\/p>\n

The Share Trend<\/strong> dialog box opens, with the trend's URL.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Add to the Table of Contents in Server Managment<\/h3>\n

In order to show a link on the Explorer ribbon, you need to add the link in Server Management, and assign it to a template. This gets done in Server Management, and requires privileges. Tasks are:<\/p>\n
