(<em>Refresh, Save, Snapshot, Share Link, Print, Export CSV<\/em>)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Selectors<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>The selections you make affect the time range of the chart, as well as <a title=\"Data Transformation and Sample Methods\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/primers\/transforms\/\">how P2 Server fetches the data<\/a>, and how the trace line is displayed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0<\/td>\n<td>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"80\"><em>Time Range<\/em>:<\/td>\n<td width=\"460\">This defines the start and end date and time of your trend.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><em>Sample Method<\/em>:<\/td>\n<td>This is the method (for example, average) that P2 Server uses to collect your trend data.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><em>Sample Interval<\/em>:<\/td>\n<td>This is the interval (for example, 1 week) that P2 Server uses to collect your trend data.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><em>Y Scale Type<\/em>:<\/td>\n<td>You can choose Log (uses logarithmic data points) or Linear (uses actual data points).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Trace<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>The trace displays time-series data, such as tags, over a period of time <em>(Time Range)<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Range Selector<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>The highlighted section in the range selector matches the start and end of the trend <em>time range<\/em>. Use the range selector as a longer trend, to help identify highs and lows. You can select smaller periods within the range selector, to pick a new <em>time range<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Tags List<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>Drag and drop tags, attributes or attribute values into this list to include them in the trace. Each one is assigned a legend colour.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"page-subheading\"><span id=\"Tutorial\">Tutorial<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><span id=\"Tutorial\">In this tutorial we\u2019ll add a new trend, and then drop some attributes into the Tags List, to create a trace. We'll then experiment with features of the resulting trend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Trend-18-Your-Completed-Trend.png\" rel=\"lightbox-1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5274 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Trend-18-Your-Completed-Trend-800x430.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"430\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Let's go through this process, step-by-step.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"page-subheading\">Step by Step: Adding a New Trend<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">First we'll open a new trend and put some data on there. Next, we'll experiment with changing selections and using the range selector, and then we'll add a hairline with comments. Next, we'll save the trend. And finally, we'll locate and open the saved trend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">If you have access to the training environment, you can follow the steps exactly as outlined here. Otherwise, you will need to adjust the configuration to suit your data.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"page-subheading\">Step 1. Adding an Attribute or Tag to the Trace<\/h4>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Related: <a title=\"Tag Search and Hierarchy Navigation\" href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/tag-search-and-hierarchy-navigation\/\">Searching for Tags and Hierarchy Attributes<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To add attributes or tags to the trace, you need to drop them into the <em>Tags List<\/em>, or manually type in the names, if known. You can also add calculations to items in the tags list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><strong>Dropping an Attribute into the <em>Tags List<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To add an attribute to the <em>Tags List<\/em>: Open the hierarchy navigator, select a hierarchy, then search for the attribute you want to trace and drag it into the tag list. Follow the steps below:<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">1. Click <strong>Tags<\/strong> on the <strong>View<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">2. Search for tags in the tags list that appears on a panel on the left. Drag and drop a tag onto the Tags List.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><strong>Typing Values into the <em>Tags List<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">You can type a known tag name or attribute name surrounded by curly brackets <strong>{}<\/strong>, for example: {gold} in the <em>Tags List<\/em>, and then press enter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">You can also type in a calculation, also surrounded by curly brackets <strong>{}<\/strong>, for example: {Derby:THP}  * 2. Changing Trend Selections<\/h4>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">In this step, we'll experiment with changing the <em>Time Range<\/em>, <em>Sample Method<\/em> and <em>Sample Interval<\/em>, and the <em>Y Scale Type<\/em>. Note that the selections affect how much data is returned, thus affecting the time taken to render the trend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><strong>Step 3.1. Changing the Time Range<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"note\">The defaults are: From <em>1 week<\/em> to <em>current date and time<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Select <em>3 months<\/em> from the <strong>Time Range<\/strong> drop-down list. Changing your Time Selection with the Range Selector<\/h4>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The <em>Range Selector<\/em>, found below the <em>Trace<\/em>, works together with the <em>Time Range<\/em> selectors to set your trend time range. Hover the mouse over the left or right edge of the highlighted section, until you see the mouse <em>horizontal resize<\/em> pointer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">2. Hover the mouse over the central portion of the highlighted section, until you see the mouse <em>move<\/em> pointer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">2. Now click and drag the whole highlighted section to left (earlier) or right (later).
