Workspaces are described only by a name and description, and you can create as many as you need for your site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Next to each workspace in the Workspace panel is an event notification label, showing the total number of current non-default events for all monitors in that workspace. The number is colour-coded to display the highest severity of event occurring within the workspace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"note\">Note: There could be more than one event notification label, if you have de-selected the option <strong>Combine severities into a single count <\/strong>in the<strong> Event Display Options<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">If a workspace contains a monitor with a status message, this is displayed next to the workspace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">You can perform the following actions on a workspace:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Add a new workspace.<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Edit the workspace name and description.<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Remove the workspace from Sentinel. You can only delete a workspace that has no folders or monitors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Workspace Security Roles<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To see a workspace in the Workspace panel, you either need a security role that has the <strong>Workspaces View <\/strong>privilege (allowing you to view all public workspaces), <strong>or<\/strong> you need privileges to view a specific workspace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Workspace viewers are personnel belonging to any of the selected roles, for example, Sentinel Editors, that have been assigned to the <strong>Security Roles<\/strong> list for that workspace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"353\" height=\"360\" class=\"wp-image-59545\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/graphical-user-interface-application-description.png\" alt=\"Graphical user interface, application\n\nDescription automatically generated\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/graphical-user-interface-application-description.png 353w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-147x150.png 147w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-48x48.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 353px) 100vw, 353px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">In the example above, Workspace 2 has the <strong>Sentinel Editors<\/strong> role selected as Security Roles. Users that have this role can view all folders and monitors in this workspace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"note\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: All roles in Security are listed under both the <strong>Security Roles<\/strong> and <strong>Approvers<\/strong> panels in the workspace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">These are the levels of workspace access:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Users who have a role selected in <strong>Security<\/strong> <strong>Roles<\/strong> for a workspace, have access to that particular workspace.<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Users who have a role with the <strong>Sentinel Workspaces View<\/strong> privilege have access to all workspaces, excluding private workspaces.<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Users who have a role with the <strong>Sentinel Workspaces Edit<\/strong> privilege have access to all workspaces, excluding private workspaces. They can also:\n<ul>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Add and edit workspaces<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Add and edit folders<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Submit monitors for approval (and unsubmit)<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Add and edit event views<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Users who have a role with the <strong>Sentinel Admin<\/strong> privilege have access to all workspaces, including private workspaces. They can also:\n<ul>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Set Security Roles in workspaces<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Set Approvers in workspaces (where Change Management is enabled)<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Delete workspaces, folders, monitors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"note\">Note: the Sentinel Admin privilege cascades into all of the Sentinel module privileges.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Clear Status Messages<\/h2>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Privileges: To clear messages for a workspace, you need a security role that has the <strong>Sentinel Workspaces Clear Messages <\/strong>privilege.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To clear all status messages from the monitor status log, for every monitor within a particular workspace:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>In the Workspace panel, right-click on the <strong>workspace<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-59546\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/word-image-58823-2.png\" \/> .<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Clear Messages<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"15\" height=\"16\" class=\"wp-image-59547\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/word-image-58823-3.png\" \/> from the menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The status messages are deleted, for the workspace.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Add a Workspace<\/h2>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Privileges: To add a workspace you need a security role that has the <strong>Sentinel<\/strong> <strong>Workspaces Edit <\/strong>privilege.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To add a new workspace:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>Click the Menu button below the Sentinel header.<\/li>\n<li>Click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" the <strong>New Workspace<\/strong> dialog box:\n<ol class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>In the <strong>Name<\/strong> text box, type a name for the new workspace.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Description<\/strong> text box, type a description for the new workspace.<\/li>\n<li>Assign workspace security roles in the <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/security\/sentinel-security\/\">Security Roles<\/a> group.<\/li>\n<li>Assign approvers, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/sentinel\/getting-started-with-sentinel\/workspace-approvals\/\">Approvers<\/a> group.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to save the new workspace.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"note\">Note: The Approvers section is only applicable where Sentinel has been <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/sentinel\/administration\/sentinelconfig\/\">configured to use Change Management<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The new workspace appears in the Workspace panel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"662\" height=\"365\" class=\"wp-image-59551\" are alphabetically ordered in the workspace panel, with the exception of My Workspace, which appears at the top of the list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\"><strong>My Workspace <\/strong>is automatically created by the system.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Edit a Workspace<\/h2>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Privileges: To edit a workspace you need a security role that has the <strong>Sentinel<\/strong> <strong>Workspaces Edit <\/strong>privilege. <br \/>\nYou cannot edit any of the private workspaces, such as <em>My Workspace<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Editing a workspace is similar to adding a new one.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>In the Workspace panel, right-click on the <strong>workspace <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-59552\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/word-image-58823-8.png\" \/><\/strong> that you want to edit.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Edit<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" class=\"wp-image-59553\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/word-image-58823-9.png\" \/> from the list.<\/li>\n<li>In the workspace page of the Main panel, update the <strong>Edit Workspace<\/strong> page as required:\n<ol class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>Change the name in the <strong>Name<\/strong> box.<\/li>\n<li>Change the description in the <strong>Description<\/strong> box.<\/li>\n<li>Change security roles by selecting the relevant <strong>Security Roles<\/strong> check boxes.<\/li>\n<li>If Change Management is in use, you can change approvers by selecting the relevant <strong>Approvers<\/strong> check boxes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to save.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Your changes to the workspace are saved.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Delete a Workspace<\/h2>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Privileges: To delete a workspace you need a security role that has the <strong>Sentinel<\/strong> <strong>Admin <\/strong>privilege. <br \/>\nYou cannot delete private workspaces, such as <em>My Workspace<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">You will only be able to delete a workspace that contains no folders, monitors, or event views.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>In the Workspace panel, right-click on the <strong>workspace <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-59554\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/word-image-58823-10.png\" \/> <\/strong>that you want to delete.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Delete <\/strong><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"17\" height=\"16\" class=\"wp-image-59555\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/word-image-58823-11.png\" \/><\/strong> from the list.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Yes<\/strong> at the prompt.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The workspace is removed.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Adjust the Event Display Options<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The event display options determine which current events are counted and then displayed in the event notification labels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Based on the time selection (in the <strong>Show events for <\/strong>drop-down list), events are counted or not counted depending on when they occurred. For example, if a current event started two hours ago, and the last 48 hours option is selected, this event is <strong>not<\/strong> included in the count.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Suppression events are only included in the count if the Show suppression events option is selected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Depending on the selection of Combine severities into a single count, the event count is either a single total for that workspace \/ folder \/ monitor, displayed in a single event notification label, or it is grouped into separate counts for the different severities. The options are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li><strong>all time<\/strong>:\u00a0Shows the count for all current events regardless of when they started.<\/li>\n<li><strong>today<\/strong>:\u00a0Shows the count for current events that started today.<\/li>\n<li><strong>this week<\/strong>:\u00a0Shows the count for current events that started within the last week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>this shift<\/strong>:\u00a0Shows the count for current events that started during the current shift.<\/li>\n<li><strong>last 12 hours<\/strong>:\u00a0Shows the count for current events that started during the last 12 hours.<\/li>\n<li><strong>last 24 hours<\/strong>:\u00a0Shows the count for current events that started during the last 24 hours.<\/li>\n<li><strong>last 48 hours<\/strong>:\u00a0Shows the count for current events that started during the last 48 hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"note\">Note: <em>today<\/em>, <em>this shift<\/em> and <em>this week<\/em> are all based on the Server configuration setting that define the \u201cstart of day offset\u201d (<strong>StartOfDayOffsetMin<\/strong>), as well as \u201cfirst day of week\u201d (<strong>FirstDayOfWeek<\/strong>)and \u201cshift length\u201d (<strong>ShiftHrs<\/strong>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"no-toc-heading\"><strong>Show Suppression Events<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To include suppression events in the event count, select the <strong>Show suppression events <\/strong>check box. The event status is Invalid. The <strong>Show Invalid Events<\/strong> option is greyed out if Case Management is disabled.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">See All Private Workspaces<\/h2>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Privileges: To view all private workspaces, you need a security role that has the <strong>Sentinel<\/strong> <strong>Admin <\/strong>privilege.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Whereas most users are only able to see their own private workspace, only users with appropriate privileges to see <strong>all<\/strong> private workspaces within the Sentinel system, to view, edit and move the monitors, folders and event views in these private workspaces, and also to view the events raised within these private workspaces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">A possible reason for moving a monitor to another workspace is when the owner of the originating private workspace is unable to work on the monitor for a while. The monitor can be worked on by another user within their own private workspace, if it has been moved there by a Sentinel Administrator. The private workspaces are ordered alphabetically under \u201cMy Workspace\u201d, and before public workspaces. Private workspaces are named as: \u201c[UserName]\u2019s Private Workspace\u201d.
