For the latest help, see <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/entries\/fields\/\">Fields.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Fields are the properties that appear in an entry; in Shift Log, this means in the log panel table in a workbook and in the entry dialog. Fields must be assigned to a Form in order for them to appear in Shift Log. The same field (such as Category) can be assigned to many Forms, so they are created independently of a Form.<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/shift-log\/primers\/workbooks\/\">Workbooks<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/using-entries\/entry-form\/\">Entry Form<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/entries\/forms\/\">Forms<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Some fields come configured by default and are reserved for system use.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To create a new Field in P2 Server Management:<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">1. Open P2 Server Management, and click the <b>Shift Log <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/shift-log-icon.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-45007\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/shift-log-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"32\" height=\"30\" \/><\/a><\/b>\u00a0icon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">2. In the Field Details section on the right, type a <strong>Name<\/strong> that is not already being used and does not contain any reserved characters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/primers\/reserved-characters-keywords\/\">Reserved Characters &amp; Keywords<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">5. Type a <strong>Display Name<\/strong> - this will be the name of the field that you will see in Shift Log wherever users need to specify a field, such as in filters. This does not need to be unique, but is required. Next, choose a <strong>Data Type<\/strong> from the list. Certain data types have additional options associated with them.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 12.1875%;\"><strong>Boolean<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 87.8125%;\">This field will appear as a check box in the dialog, and in that table will appear as a <em>True<\/em> or <em>False<\/em> value. There are no additional options to choose for Boolean values.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 12.1875%;\"><strong>Datetime<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 87.8125%;\">\n<p>In the dialog, this will allow users to choose a date and time by using a date\/time picker. You can specify the format in which the date and time will appear in the table.<\/p>\n<p>Note that the <em>Date format<\/em> takes into account the user's locale settings. So day, month and year are displayed in the correct order based on their browser locale.<\/p>\n<p>Various selections are available to make it easier to customise the format.
