This should be available from your network administrator.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Enable and build index<\/strong> check box.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/index1.png\" rel=\"lightbox-2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-65266\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/index1.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of Indexing tab in Explorer config tool\" width=\"396\" height=\"138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/index1.png 396w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/index1-150x52.png 150w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/index1-48x17.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 396px) 100vw, 396px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The time taken to build an index depends on the amount of data in the system, and full results may take half an hour or more to appear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Cluster Status<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Cluster status refers to the status of the server on which ElasticSearch is installed, and which hosts the cluster used by Explorer. If indexing is enabled, the status results will be one of the following:<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody class=\"intro-text\">\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>OfflineOrUnreachable<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>The cluster might be inoperational or not configured.<\/p>\n<p>Actions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check the Cluster URI is correct.<\/li>\n<li>Check the ElasticSearch server is turned on and connected to the network.<\/li>\n<li>Check that ElasticSearch has been installed correctly, including prerequisites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Unhealthy<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>ElasticSearch diagnostics is reporting that there could be errors within the Cluster on the Elastic server.<\/p>\n<p>Actions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Try rebuilding the indexes.<\/li>\n<li>If the problem persists, an administrator who has access to the ElasticSearch server will need to check the Elastic logs for other possible causes. We recommend checking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elastic.co\/guide\/en\/elasticsearch\/reference\/current\/fix-common-cluster-issues.html\">ElasticSearch website<\/a>, which has extensive documentation on troubleshooting cluster issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Healthy<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>The cluster is reachable and the indexes are healthy with no known errors.<\/p>\n<p>No action is required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: On non-production instances, some data might be missing or inconsistent, as usually happens when a database has been restored but the indexes were not rebuilt. If this is the case, rebuild the indexes.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3>Index Status<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Index status refers to the indexing manager in Explorer which connects to the cluster in order to synchronize the index. If indexing is enabled, the status results will be one of the following:<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody class=\"intro-text\">\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Inactive\u00a0<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>The index manager is not active. This usually means that the Index Manager services has stopped and therefore the indexes will be out of date.<\/p>\n<p>Actions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check for errors in the ISS Logger.<\/li>\n<li>Rebuild the indexes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Connected<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>The index manager is connected to Elastic Server, however Explorer does not yet know the status of the index. This is usually seen upon installation, until the initial index is built, or if the Elastic service is turned off.<\/p>\n<p>Actions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rebuild the indexes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Rebuilding<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>The index is in the process of being built or rebuilt. When a rebuild is triggered, indexing will not start until all IFS OI Explorer services are restarted. Case Management and Shift Log will not show the complete set of entries until indexing has been completed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: If an environment has a large number of entries, full results may not appear for half an hour or more.<\/p>\n<p>Actions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check that IFS OI services have been restarted.<\/li>\n<li>Observe that entries in Explorer will appear to be erratic until the index has finished rebuilding.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Synchronizing <\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>Synchronization is active. The index has been built and is working as expected. The index manager will continue to update the index in the background.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No action is required.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Error <\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>The index manager has encountered an error that cannot be automatically handled.<\/p>\n<p>Actions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check for errors in the ISS Logger.<\/li>\n<li>Rebuild the indexes.<\/li>\n<li>Restart IFS OI services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Server Diagnostics<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Displays free physical memory as a percentage, and disk space free for each drive as a percentage. Minimum required resourcing for IFS OI Explorer and associated modules is described in detail in the <em>Explorer Installation Guide<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Server-diags.png\" rel=\"lightbox-3\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-image alignnone wp-image-65270 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Server-diags.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of derver diagnostics\" width=\"504\" height=\"105\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Server-diags.png 504w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Server-diags-150x31.png 150w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Server-diags-48x10.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">A Note on Virtualization: IFS OI Server, IFS OI Explorer, and IFS OI Sentinel are supported in virtual machine (VM) environments.\u00a0 In addition to the resources required by the host partition, each VM (guest partition) must be provided with sufficient disk resources, processor resources, and memory for each instance specified in the tables below.<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">For a high usage environment, the server hardware should mirror the VM requirements, at a minimum. If Sentinel will be processing large amounts of data or running frequently, please scale the hardware appropriately. Simply increasing the CPU, RAM, throughput etc, of the Virtual Machine, on a minimum-spec server would not ensure adequate performance due to the capacity of the hardware itself.<\/p>\n<h3>Memory Requirements<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The memory required on the IFS OI Server to successfully run IFS OI Explorer and associated modules depends on the number of Active Users, which can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/explorer-admin\/license-audit\/\">Licence Audit<\/a> page. For large Shift Log installations, an additional 16 GB+ is recommended.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">When installing ElasticSearch, the JVM memory setting refers to the memory that Elasticsearch is reserving for itself, not the total memory that is available to the system. If a service is not running, it will affect the operation of IFS OI Explorer and associated modules.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">If any of the services have stopped, then it will show an error message. Otherwise, it will show each service as running.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">If a service has stopped, open the Explorer Configuration tool and restart it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Service-diags.png\" rel=\"lightbox-4\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-image alignnone wp-image-65271 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Service-diags.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of service diagnostics\" width=\"504\" height=\"139\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Service-diags.png 504w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Service-diags-150x41.png 150w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Service-diags-48x13.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>If the IFS OI<strong>\u00a0Server<\/strong> service will not start, check the Service Broker is enabled in the IFS OI Server database. In the Service Broker section, ensure <strong>Broker Enabled<\/strong> is set to <em>True<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>If the<strong> Data Broker<\/strong> service will not start, check that all your adaptor dependencies have been installed. These are listed in the Software Prerequisites section of the <em>Explorer Installation Guide.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>If you are trying to restart a service and see that it will not stop, open Task Manager and kill the service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Data Broker Diagnostics<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">This section checks that the Data Broker is functioning correctly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>If the Data Broker is <strong>running<\/strong>, it will display the time the Data Broker was started, and the status of each Adaptor Pool.<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">If the Data Broker is <strong>shut down<\/strong>, an error message will appear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/db-diags.png\" rel=\"lightbox-5\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-image alignnone wp-image-65272 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/db-diags.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of data broker diagnostics\" width=\"504\" height=\"126\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/db-diags.png 504w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/db-diags-150x38.png 150w, https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/db-diags-48x12.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To get adaptor pools to appear, open trends or pages that use datasources.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Adaptor pools are displayed in the format: <span class=\"code-fragment\">Pool - {datasource name} {type}<\/span> and can have the following statuses:<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody class=\"intro-text\">\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Healthy<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">The Adaptor Pool is running normally. No action is required.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Locked<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>Processing of the last request failed due to either the adaptor reporting that it failed, or an exception escaped the adaptor.\u00a0This results in the adaptor becoming locked.<\/p>\n<p>After a few seconds, Explorer automatically tries to unlock the adaptor pool and reinitialize all the adaptors, in case the connection to the historian\/database failed. This attempt to unlock will repeat every 5 seconds (or as otherwise configured).<\/p>\n<p>Actions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check for errors in the ISS Logger.<\/li>\n<li>Check that the connection to the datasource is stable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"border: 1px solid #cccccc;\">\n<td style=\"width: 22.3958%;\"><strong>Permanently Locked<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 77.6042%;\">\n<p>Values in the Queue Manager tables for the datasource have been configured in such a way that has locked the adaptor pools, requiring manual intervention.
