Sites, shifts and swings can be configured for use with Explorer. Each site can have multiple shift and swing patterns, and each swing pattern can be linked to any predefined shift pattern.<\/p>\n

Sites, and shift and swing patterns, are configured in P2 Server Management.<\/p>\n

Adding a Site<\/h2>\n

1. Open P2 Server Management, and click the Sites \"\"<\/strong>\u00a0icon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you are creating a site for the first time, you will see a Default Site seeded into the system. You can choose to edit the default site, or add a new one.<\/p>\n

2. Click Create New Site<\/strong>, or click Default Site<\/strong> to modify it.<\/p>\n

Note: To edit an existing site, use the Search function to filter the list of sites and select from the displayed list.<\/p>\n

3. Fill in the Name and Description fields. Note that the name cannot contain reserved characters.<\/p>\n

4. Enter the site time zone if required. Default is the browser time zone.<\/p>\n

5. Click the Save<\/strong> button in the top right corner.<\/p>\n

Saving the Site details activates the Shift Patterns and Swing Patterns menu items.<\/p>\n

Saved sites are found in the sites list, when Sites is opened.<\/p>\n

A green check mark \"\" on the right side of a site, indicates the selected default site.<\/p>\n

Adding a Shift Pattern<\/h2>\n

A shift pattern is a 24-hour period divided into equal portions of time, with the start time being the time the first shift starts. You can also specify the length of the shifts in the pattern. Shifts can be 6, 8, 12, or 24 hours long.<\/p>\n

To add a shift pattern:<\/p>\n

1. Click <\/span>Shift Patterns<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Click Add Shift Pattern<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

3. Fill in the Shift Pattern Details.<\/p>\n

Name<\/strong><\/td>\nThe name of the shift pattern.
\nThe shift pattern name will be listed in the workbook settings when the site is selected.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Description<\/strong><\/td>\nProvide an optional description for the shift pattern.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Time Zone<\/strong><\/td>\nSite time zone information.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Start Time<\/strong><\/td>\nThe starting time of the first shift E.g. 06:00<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shift Length<\/strong><\/td>\nThe shift duration, in hours. The shift length determines how many shifts there are in a 24-hour period.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shifts<\/strong><\/td>\nThe number of rows shown depends on the shift length.<\/p>\n

Each shift is named by default. Enter a new shift name if required.<\/p>\n

Disable a shift by clearing the Enabled checkbox.
\nWhen a shift is disabled, it will not appear in the shift picker, and users will not be able to navigate to it. This is useful if for example, you have a morning and afternoon shift, but no night shift.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Default Shift Pattern<\/strong><\/td>\nA shift pattern can be specified as the default pattern for that site, and it will appear as the default shift in workbooks. In future, this will also be used by shift-based calculations.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

4. Click the Save<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

Adding a Swing Pattern<\/h2>\n

A swing pattern details the number of work days, the number of days off, and the starting date of the swing. Each work group will follow a particular swing pattern, and each swing pattern can be assigned to multiple work groups.<\/p>\n

To add a swing pattern:<\/p>\n

1. Click <\/span>Swing Patterns<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Click Add Swing Pattern<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
