Chart data, or traces, can be any time-series data such as tags, attributes or calculations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/trace-window\/#Y-Axes\">y-axes<\/a> (left and right)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/creating-a-trend\/#Tutorial_4_Hairline_and_Comments\">Hairlines<\/a> can be added to see more detailed data for a particular point in time<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/creating-a-trend\/#Tutorial_4_Hairline_and_Comments\">Comments<\/a> can be added from either the hairline information box or by clicking on the comment marker of an existing comment<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/trace-window\/#Cases\">Cases<\/a> Window<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The size of the Trace Window can be increased by clicking on the Range Selector, Controls or Trace Table buttons on the toolbar, to hide the respective together or individually, and at the left or right side of the chart.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">From the toolbar select the y-axes mode of:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\" style=\"list-style-type: circle !important;\">\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Shared: A shared y-axis for all traces<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Separate: One y-axis on the left and one y-axis on the right<\/li>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Multiple: A separate y-axis for each trace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">From the trace table select:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\" style=\"list-style-type: circle !important;\">\n<li>A left or right y-axis for each trace, left is the default<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"left-bar\">Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-explorer\/trends\/trend-toolbar\/\">Toolbar<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Separate Y-Axes<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">With Separate y-axes, each trace will have its own axis, but only one y-axis will be displayed on the left and right sides of the chart at a time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To plot each trace against its own axis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"intro-text\">Click <strong>Y-Axis<\/strong> on the toolbar and select <strong>Separate<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a new ranges along the y-axes<\/li>\n<li>Data items that have the same value, and the same Min and Max, are now overlaid<\/li>\n<li>Clicking Auto Range again does not reset the Min and Max to their previous values - you will need to reset or manually adjust each trace's display minimum and maximum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Shared Y-Axis<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">When Shared y-axis is selected, all traces with a left y-axis (<strong>L<\/strong>) are plotted against a single, shared left y-axis, while all traces with a right y-axis (<strong>R<\/strong>) are plotted against a single, shared right y-axis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Click <strong>Y-Axis<\/strong> on the toolbar and select <strong>Shared.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"intro-text\">Y Range is selected by default when Shared is the selected mode for the y-axis.<\/p>\n<p><a sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 id=\"Trend-min-and-max\">Trend Min and Max<\/h4>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The trend minimum and maxium values determine the range of the y values displayed and apply only to the shared y-axis mode.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The Min and Max values are initially determined automatically by the minumum and maximum values of the traces on the trend for that axis, with the left and right y-axes each having their own Min and Max values.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To set new minimum and maximum values:<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">1. Where the standard <em>Time Series<\/em> mode plots all trace items along a time axis (the X-Axis), <em>XY <\/em>mode plots the data using X and Y coordinates from two or more sets of data (there can be several sets of data against the y-axis that share the x-axis data's coordinates).<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Use the XY mode to see how one set of data correlates with others. For example, rising temperatures may correspond to rising pressures, showing a high positive correlation. Or flowrate could be plotted against pressure, to see how these values relate over the defined period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Data is collected as it is for Time Series mode, although <em>Raw<\/em> and <em>Adaptive Raw<\/em> sample methods are not allowed. (If you change from Time Series mode to XY mode using either of these sample methods, the sample method is automatically changed to <em>Last Known Value<\/em>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">In this example, we show the difference between Time Series mode and XY mode.
