For more, see <a href=\"#Release_History\">Release History<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The Dataset Merging page is used to create datasets by combining data from two existing Explorer datasets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The page is available under the Explorer Administration menu. Existing merged datasets are displayed in the list. Select a merged dataset from the list.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">2. The configuration for the selected merged dataset is displayed in the <strong>Merged Dataset Details<\/strong> section. Review the existing configuration or make any required changes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">3. Click <strong>Save<\/strong> to apply any changes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">4. You can use the <strong>Delete<\/strong> option to remove the merged dataset.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"page-subheading\">Creating a Merged Dataset<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The merged dataset configuration consists of the dataset name and description, together with the Merge Datasets, Join By, and Sort By sections, which are used to define how the source datasets are combined.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">This configuration automatically generates the required Dataset Query Language (DQL) query based on the selected options, removing the need to manually create DQL statements.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"left-bar-blue\">Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/oihelp.corporate.ifs.com\/help\/p2-server\/connecting-your-data\/creating-a-dataset-datasource\/dataset-query-language-dql\/\">Dataset Query Language (DQL)<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">To create a merged dataset, click<strong> Add Merged Dataset<\/strong>. Enter a Name. The name must be unique and is used to identify the dataset in Explorer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">2. You can add an optional description to provide additional information about the merged dataset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">3. Under <a href=\"#merge-datasets\"><strong>Merge Datasets<\/strong><\/a>, select a dataset from the left dataset selector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">4. Select a dataset from the right dataset selector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">5. Select the columns from the two datasets that should be included in the merged dataset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">6. You can also provide aliases for columns to rename them or to resolve naming conflicts between datasets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">7. Use <a href=\"#join-by\"><strong>Join By<\/strong><\/a> section to define the join conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">8. The <a href=\"#sort-by\"><strong>Sort By<\/strong><\/a> section can be used to define the order of the merged dataset results.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">9. Click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">10. Click <a href=\"#dataset-preview\"><strong>Preview<\/strong><\/a> to review the merged dataset results.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"merge-datasets\" class=\"page-subheading\" style=\"margin-top: 0;\">Merge Datasets<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The <strong>Merge Datasets<\/strong> section is used to select the two source datasets and determine which columns are included in the merged dataset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The selected datasets are displayed side-by-side and show the available columns for each dataset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Select the checkbox beside each column that should be included in the merged dataset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">Aliases can be used to rename selected columns. The following compatibility rules apply:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"intro-text\">\n<li>String-based metadata types (String, UniqueString, NamedList, and UniqueNamedList) are compatible with each other.<\/li>\n<li>Number-based metadata types (Integer, UniqueInteger, and Decimal) are compatible with each other.<\/li>\n<li>Boolean metadata is only compatible with other Boolean metadata.<\/li>\n<li>DateTimeUtc metadata is only compatible with other DateTimeUtc metadata.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"sort-by\" class=\"page-subheading\" style=\"margin-top: 0;\">Sort By<\/h3>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The <strong>Sort By<\/strong> section can be used to define the order of the merged dataset results.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro-text\">The columns selected in the Merge Datasets section are available in the<strong> Sort By<\/strong> list.
